Authentic community engagement is a powerful vehicle for understanding and meeting local needs, increasing parent and student involvement at the school, and supporting families beyond the classroom. It is rooted in the belief that we achieve the best results when we’re working together with families and the community. Activities can include: organizing to effect change on a local policy or practice, hosting events like community breakfasts or back-to-school fairs, phone banking, writing letters to policy makers, attending board or city council meetings, knocking on doors, putting up flyers at local businesses, hosting parent workshops, attending community events, and more.
Please see the Community Engagement Guide for more details on how to do this work.
